CREATIVE DIRECTOR, THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA

ART DIRECTOR, THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA

  • Directly manage and mentor a team of storytellers that include writers, designers, photographers and videographers. 

  • Work closely with the Office of Enrollment Management to oversee the creative strategy and development of all undergraduate Admissions materials, requiring a strong understanding of the enrollment funnel and college admissions process. 

  • Create the vision for and manage the institutional brand, including ownership of the brand manual
    website, planning and execution of new brand assets, management of agency partners, and regular consultation with campus units. 

  • Led the creative development and assisted with the implementation of the institution’s first comprehensive brand strategy. The process included audience and stakeholder research that ultimately informed the brand positioning, architecture, and messaging approach. Creative deliverables included a new institutional logo and lockup system, graphic elements, messaging guides, and a robust library of templates to be rolled out across the university’s 12 academic colleges and countless administrative units. 

  • Built an influential network of creatives across university departments in an effort to strengthen the Iowa brand and drive creativity through collaboration. 

  • Led the implementation of a cloud-based project management system cross-functionally across the Office of Strategic Communication.


CREATIVE MANAGER, CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY TEXAS

  • Led the creative development of all internal and external communications—including traditional, graduate, and online student recruitment, the alumni magazine, fundraising solicitations, and campus events.

  • Managed the CTX brand and led the creative execution of the university’s first integrated brand campaign.

  • Managed and mentored a team of student graphic designers, photographers, and contractors. Collaborated with external vendors/agencies to develop, create, implement and measure marketing materials in support of the university brand.


GRAPHIC DESIGNER, SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY

  • Designed marketing and editorial materials with both print and digital formats in mind to repackage content creatively and effectively. These include, but are not limited to the alumni magazine, annual reports, admissions recruitment marketing, special event invitations, direct-mail solicitations, promotional materials, logos and banners.

  • Responsible for design, development and content management for monthly online magazine, Southwestern Online

  • Created campaign microsites that include planning, content creation, design, HTML and CSS coding, and testing.

  • Managed email marketing communications for student and alumni audience, including the content planning, targeting, segmentation, development, and deployment.

  • Created high-end conceptual design, identity, and brand marketing solutions for healthcare clients across a range of digital platforms including web, email, kiosk, touch-screen, etc.

  • Managed and mentored junior designers to promote their development and growth.

  • Developed campaigns and advertising materials for pharma and healthcare clients including identity, business collateral materials, direct mail, print ads and newsletters in a fast-paced agency setting.

  • Worked closely with, and managed production artists to keep jobs on schedule.

  • Worked closely with the production team to output proofs, collected and delivered final files to vendors, and partnered with creatives to edit layouts and retouch photography in a fast-paced agency setting.
